Dental Implants in Kondapur, Hyderabad

Losing a tooth changes how you chew, speak and smile, and the gap rarely stays a gap. Neighbouring teeth lean into the space, and the jawbone under the missing tooth slowly shrinks because it no longer carries any chewing load.

Elite Dental Clinic is a dental clinic in Kondapur, Hyderabad. This page is medically reviewed by Dr. Revathi Indukuri, an endodontist who also plans implant treatment at the clinic. It explains how dental implants in Kondapur work, who they do not suit, how your plan is set and what to expect at each stage.

Quick answer

A dental implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone to hold a replacement tooth. At Elite Dental Clinic in Hyderabad, dental implants are planned in three or four stages over about 6 to 12 months, after an evaluation and an X-ray.

01 Overview

What is a dental implant and how does it replace a missing tooth?

A dental implant is a small post, usually made of titanium, placed into the jawbone where a tooth root used to be.3 Over several months the bone grows around the post and holds it in place, a process called osseointegration.3 Once the post is stable, a connector called an abutment and a crown are fitted over it.

The alternatives most patients compare it with are a fixed bridge and dentures. A bridge needs the healthy teeth on either side of the gap to be shaped so they can carry the new tooth. An implant stands on its own, so those neighbouring teeth stay untouched, and the post passes chewing force into the jaw.

Bone needs chewing load to maintain itself. After a tooth is lost, the bone around the empty socket slowly shrinks, which is why a dentist often discusses replacement soon after an extraction, even when the gap is at the back and not visible.

Implants work well for most patients but not for everyone, and they need daily care for as long as you keep them. The risks and the situations where an implant is the wrong choice are set out in the limits section below.

In short, an implant replaces the root as well as the crown, and that is its main difference from a bridge or dentures.

Implant surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic, and the dentist explains each stage before it begins.

02 Candidacy

Who is a suitable candidate for dental implants in Kondapur?

Suitability is decided by an examination and imaging, not by age. The American Dental Association notes that your health is more of a factor than your age.3 The two lists below describe the general pattern.

Usually suits

  • Adults whose jaw has finished growing and who are missing one or more teeth
  • Enough healthy jawbone, confirmed on an X-ray or a scan
  • Healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated first
  • Good general health and a willingness to clean daily and attend review visits

Needs caution or a different plan

  • Smokers, who face a higher risk of failure, because tobacco can slow healing23
  • Chronic illness such as diabetes that is not well controlled, which can interfere with healing3
  • Thin or short bone, which may need a bone graft first2
  • Heavy grinding of the teeth, which loads an implant unevenly

Bone, gum health and general health decide candidacy more than age does.

03 Options

Which dental implant option fits your case in Kondapur?

The right option depends on how many teeth are missing, where they are and the state of the bone.

Single tooth replacement

For one missing tooth with healthy neighbours. One post carries one crown. See single tooth implants.

3 or 4 stages

Implant-supported bridge

For two or three missing teeth in a row. Two posts can carry a bridge of three teeth, so a post is not needed for every missing tooth.

3 or 4 stages

Full-arch implants

For most or all teeth missing in one jaw. A small number of posts carry a fixed set of teeth. See All-on-4, All-on-6 and full mouth dental implants.

Planned for each jaw

Where the bone is thin, a bone graft may come first, which adds a stage.2 Treatment as a whole usually takes 6 to 12 months and several visits.2

A bridge or denture is quicker, an implant spares the neighbouring teeth, and the evaluation shows which one your mouth allows.

04 Procedure

How is a dental implant placed in Kondapur, step by step?

Treatment follows three or four stages, and the whole process can take 6 to 12 months with several visits.2 Timings vary by case, and you are told the plan for yours at the first visit.

The visible crown comes last, after the planning, the post and the healing.

  1. Implant consultation and X-ray planning

The dentist examines your gums, bite and remaining teeth and takes X-rays to see the bone. When more detail is needed, a 3D scan may be advised. You leave with a written plan.

  2. Gum treatment and bone graft if needed

Gum disease is treated first, and a tooth that cannot be saved is removed. If the bone is thin, a bone graft may be done first to add bone, which can bring swelling, bruising and some pain.2

  3. Implant placement under local anaesthesia

The post is placed in the jawbone through a small opening in the gum. The area is numbed, so you may feel pressure but should not feel sharp pain. Sedation can be discussed if you are anxious.

  4. Healing and osseointegration

The bone grows around the post, which can take up to several months.3 A temporary tooth or denture can be worn in the meantime if the gap shows. Review visits check the gum and the post.

  5. Abutment and impression

Once the post is stable, an abutment is attached and an impression or a digital scan records the shape of your new tooth.

  6. Fitting the implant crown

The crown is checked for fit and bite, fixed in place and polished. You are shown how to clean around it before you leave. The long-term care of the implant is mainly yours, with regular reviews.2

05 Cost

What decides the cost of dental implants in Kondapur, Hyderabad?

Treatment is planned for one person, not sold as a product, so the cost follows your evaluation.

Two patients missing the same tooth can need very different care. For that reason Elite Dental Clinic does not quote a cost before an evaluation. You receive a written plan that lists each stage before any treatment starts.

What the evaluation looks at

  • How much bone there is, and whether a bone graft is needed first
  • How many teeth are being replaced, and where they sit in the mouth
  • Gum health, and any treatment needed before surgery
  • Your general health, including conditions such as diabetes, and whether you smoke

What you decide with the dentist

  • Single posts, a bridge on posts, or a fixed full set of teeth
  • The crown material and the type of post
  • Whether a temporary tooth is worn during healing
  • The timing of each stage, around your work and travel

Your medical history matters too, including how well conditions such as diabetes are controlled.

The cost follows the plan, and the plan follows the evaluation.

06 Aftercare

What does recovery after a dental implant look like?

Most people return to routine activity within a day or two after the post is placed, though the area can stay tender for a few days. Your dentist will confirm the steps for your own case.

First 48 hours

Expect mild swelling and tenderness. Use cold packs, eat soft food and take only the medicines prescribed. Avoid smoking, because tobacco can slow healing.3

Week 1

Rinse gently as advised and avoid chewing on the site. Brush the rest of your teeth as usual. A review visit checks the gum and any stitches.

Months 1 to 6

The bone grows around the post, which can take up to several months.3 Report any loosening, pain that does not settle or a bad taste from the site.

Long term

Clean around the crown every day, use small interdental brushes if you are shown how, and attend regular reviews. Parts can loosen or wear with time, and the care of the implant is mainly yours.2

When to call us

Call the clinic the same day if swelling keeps spreading after the third day, you have a fever, bleeding does not stop after 20 minutes of firm pressure, the post or crown feels loose, or numbness does not fade. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Recovery is short at the surgery site and long at the bone, so review visits matter more than rest.

07 Limits

When is a dental implant the wrong choice?

A dental implant is usually not advised, or is delayed, in these situations:

  • Active gum disease or untreated decay, until it is under control.
  • Heavy smoking with no plan to cut down, because smokers face a higher risk of failure.2
  • Chronic illness, such as diabetes, that is not controlled, because it can interfere with healing.3
  • Too little bone where a graft is not suitable because of your medical history.
  • Jaw radiotherapy or certain bone-strengthening medicines, which need advice from your treating physician first.
  • A jaw that is still growing, which usually means under 18.
  • Heavy untreated grinding of the teeth, which is managed first.

If an implant is not right for you, a bridge or dentures may suit you better.

Risks and complications

The main risks are infection or inflammation around the implant, a post that does not join properly with the bone, irritation of a nerve or the sinus, a loose screw or crown, and a crown that chips or needs replacing.12 In a review of 26 studies, soft tissue problems around the implant affected about 1 in 10 single crowns over 5 years, and loosening of the screw or abutment about 1 in 8.1

Bone loss of more than 2 mm around the implant was seen in about 1 in 16 implants over 5 years.1 Smokers face a higher risk of failure.2

In the same review, 96.8 out of 100 implants and 94.5 out of 100 implant crowns were still in place after 5 years.1 These are published averages, not a promise for any one patient.

An implant is worth placing only when the bone, the gums and your daily care can support it.

08 Your visit

What happens at your first dental implant appointment in Kondapur?

At the first visit Dr. Revathi Indukuri listens to your history, examines your gums, bite and remaining teeth and reviews your X-rays. If an implant looks suitable, you are told the number of posts, the likely stages and what each involves. You receive a written plan that lists each stage before any treatment starts.

Bring any earlier dental X-rays and a list of your medicines. Tell the dentist about conditions such as diabetes, heart problems or allergies, and whether you smoke or take blood thinners.

The team speaks English, Telugu and Hindi. You are under no obligation to go ahead with treatment, and you can take the written plan home to think it over.

The first visit ends with a plan, not a commitment.

An implant is only as good as the plan behind it. I like patients to see their X-rays with me and to know every stage before we begin, including what happens if the bone needs help first.

Dr. Revathi Indukuri

Dr. Revathi Indukuri completed her MDS in conservative dentistry and endodontics, which covers saving and restoring natural teeth, and she plans implant treatment at Elite Dental Clinic. A tooth that can be saved is always compared with an implant first, because keeping your own tooth is usually the simpler path.

Planning starts with your records

Every plan starts with an examination and X-rays, so the number and position of the posts is planned against your actual bone.

A team with different training

The clinic's team board lists a prosthodontist and implantologist and oral and maxillofacial surgeons, so a case that needs a graft or surgery can be planned with the dentist whose training fits.

A written plan before treatment

You receive a written plan that lists each stage before any treatment starts, so you know what comes next.

Reviews after the crown

Regular review visits check the gum and the crown, because early problems around an implant are easier to treat than late ones.

Dental implants in Hyderabad for patients from other cities and countries

An implant is a staged treatment, so plan it around more than one visit. If you live outside Hyderabad, or abroad, connect with the clinic on WhatsApp or by phone before you travel, and the team will help you plan your visit. Send a photo of your X-rays if you have them.

The first visit can cover the evaluation and the written plan. The post and the crown are separate stages with healing in between, which can take up to several months, so ask the dentist which stages you must attend in person and which can be checked by a dentist at home.3

Ask for your X-rays and a copy of your treatment record before you leave, so that the care of the implant can continue wherever you live. The clinic is open every day from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, and the team speaks English, Hindi and Telugu.

Plan the evaluation first, and the stages will follow from the bone and the gums.

13 Questions

Dental implant questions from patients in Kondapur

How long does the whole implant process take?

Treatment usually runs in three or four stages and can take 6 to 12 months in total, with several visits. The bone needs up to several months to grow around the post. A bone graft first adds a stage and more time.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure but not sharp pain. The area can be tender and swollen for a few days afterwards. Take only the medicines your dentist prescribes, and call the clinic if pain gets worse instead of easing.

What are the risks of dental implants?

Risks include infection or inflammation around the implant, a post that does not join with the bone, a loose screw or crown, and a chipped crown. In a review of 26 studies, 96.8 out of 100 implants were still in place after 5 years, and soft tissue problems affected about 1 in 10 crowns. Smoking raises the risk of failure.

How long does an implant last?

No one can promise a fixed number of years. With daily cleaning and regular reviews, many implants stay in function for a long time, but parts such as the crown or the screw can loosen or wear and may need to be replaced. The care of the implant is mainly yours.

Can I have an implant if I smoke or have diabetes?

Sometimes, with conditions. Smokers face a higher risk of failure and are advised to stop, and chronic illnesses such as diabetes can interfere with healing. The dentist decides after seeing your medical reports and your mouth.

Can an implant be placed on the day the tooth is removed?

Some dentists place an implant on the day a tooth is removed when the socket is clean and the bone is sound. Whether this suits you is decided by your X-rays and examination. Where there is infection or too little bone, the area is allowed to heal first, or a bone graft is done.

How is the cost of a dental implant decided?

Treatment is planned for one person and one situation, so the cost is given after the evaluation. Bone, the number of teeth, gum health, the crown material and any graft all change the plan. You receive a written plan before treatment starts.

What happens if an implant fails?

A loose or infected implant is assessed early, often treated by cleaning and medicines, and sometimes removed. The area then heals and a new implant or another option can be planned. Tell the clinic quickly about pain, swelling or a loose crown.

14 Second opinion

Want a second opinion on your dental implant plan?

If another clinic has given you an implant plan, bring your X-rays and the written plan to your evaluation. The dentist will go through them with you and explain the options in plain words. Call or send a WhatsApp message to book your visit. The evaluation is the first step, and you are under no obligation to go ahead with treatment.
